This is where it all began! Back in Richmond, Va is when I started making this variety of the classic rice krispy treat. Little did I know that it would become such a HUGE hit! It got to the point where it was just expected for me to bring this dessert to any and all functions. From potlucks to baby showers, everyone would get assigned what to bring except for me. My job was to bring the Gourmet Brown Butter Sea-Salt Rice Krispies.
I believe what sets this apart from a “normal” rice krispy treat, is the brown butter and sea salt. The brown butter brings a deeper, richer, more intense nutty flavor then melted butter. Even though this is a long process, it can make a major difference in taste. On average it takes around 10 minutes to get the perfect brown color and nutty aroma. Then the sea salt enhances all flavors to give it the perfect punch. Again, this is the BEST rice krispy and once you have this version, you will never make an original rice krispy again.
Gourmet Brown Butter Sea Salt Rice Krispies
- 1 stick butter
- 100 oz mini marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispie Cereal
- sea salt
- In a large saucepan, brown the butter.
- Transfer butter to a bigger pot and add marshmallows. Stir until completely melted.
- Add the Rice Krispie cereal and sprinkle sea salt all over. Stir until well coated.
- Transfer to a coated pan.
